Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup (150g) M&Ms, plus extra for topping

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°Fahrenheit (175°Celsius) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Make the Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup (115g) melted unsalted butter, 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil, and 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar. Stir until smooth. Add 1 large egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract, and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Add 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp baking powder, and 1/4 tsp salt to the wet ingredients. Use a rubber spatula to mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in 3/4 cup (150g) M&Ms, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Bake:

  • Use a large cookie scoop or 2 tablespoons of dough to form cookie dough balls. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Press extra M&Ms onto the tops of the cookies for a colorful finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are set and lightly golden while the centers remain soft.

Cool and Serve:

  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill Time: A short chill time (10-15 minutes) helps the dough hold its shape and creates soft centers with crispy edges.
Perfect Cookie Size: Use a large cookie scoop for even, bakery-style cookies. For mini versions, try a 1-inch cookie scoop.
Extra M&M Magic: Gently press additional M&Ms onto the tops of the cookies right before baking for a picture-perfect finish.
